Blue Zones are regions of the world where people live the longest and healthiest lives. The term was popularized by author and researcher Dan Buettner, who identified five Blue Zones: Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California. These regions have been found to have high numbers of centenarians (people over 100 years old) and low rates of chronic diseases.

The Blue Zones share several common lifestyles and dietary factors that are believed to contribute to their inhabitants’ longevity and well-being. These include regular physical activity, a plant-based diet that is high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, a moderate calorie intake, strong social connections, and a sense of purpose. Additionally, people in the Blue Zones also tend to have low-stress levels and participate in daily low-intensity activities such as gardening.
