Agile is a project management and product development approach that emphasizes flexibility and collaboration. Agile was first outlined in the Agile Manifesto, a set of guiding values and principles for Agile software development. The Agile Manifesto prioritizes:

  • Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
  • Working software over comprehensive documentation
  • Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
  • Responding to change by following a plan

The most popular Agile methodology is Scrum, an Agile framework for managing and completing complex projects. Scrum is characterized by a set of roles, events, and artifacts that are used to manage the process of developing and delivering a product. Other Agile methodologies include Kanban and Lean.

Agile methodologies are widely used in software development, but they can also be applied to other fields, such as product development, construction, and even marketing. Agile emphasizes delivering small chunks of work, called iterations or sprints and it is based on the principle of adaptive planning, evolutionary development, early delivery, and continuous improvement.
