Dwight Eisenhower Matrix
The Eisenhower matrix, also known as the Eisenhower decision matrix or Eisenhower box, is a tool used to prioritize tasks by categorizing them as important or urgent. It was popularized by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who is said to have used it to manage his time and responsibilities.
The matrix has four quadrants:
- Urgent and important tasks (tasks that need to be done immediately)
- Important but not urgent tasks (tasks that need to be done eventually, but not necessarily right away)
- Urgent but not important tasks (tasks that can be done by someone else)
- Not urgent and not important tasks (tasks that can be eliminated or deferred)
The goal of using the Eisenhower matrix is to focus on important tasks while minimizing the time spent on unimportant or unnecessary tasks.
